2009 Part 7] THE GRANDSTAND: HIGHLIGHTS  Oh, Mother Nature been watering the northeast for way too long! Last weekend, rain continued to fall, but we got all the events in, except Figure8 racing. This week's action was called early, while the northeast embraced for bad weather all weekend long! Keep checking through out the week, because Bench Racing has been cancelled, but video content will still presented! Highlights and races through the week!!!

2009 THE GRANDSTAND: April 18,2009 1st
Practice It's not Opening Day yet for the Saturday Night/Sunday afternoon crew, but it sure felt like we were in mid swing! The weather made an April Spring day sure feel like the beginning of Summer. Most competitors were happy with car counts, as previous years, the second practice of the pre-season usually shows stronger numbers. This year had a lot of drivers biting at the chomps to get on the track and shake down their machines! Pitstop Pitbull was on hand to bring you the action with a different view. A photo collage was put together from on track action to the happenings in the pits from every division that was on hand this day. Music is by Metal Blade Records, 3, Upstate New York Progressive rock band brings to the table a blend and taste of fellow Prog Rock bands Coheed and Cambria and Dream Theater. The songs are off of of the band first major record release "The End is Begun", the two title tracks are "All That Remains" and "These Iron Bones". Enjoy! [The
Grandstand Video] THE GRANDSTAND: TURKEY DERBY XXXV The year end dream of The Turkey Derby were kept alive one more season at Wall Stadium in Wall Township, New Jersey. Jim Morton made this possible with his vision to see the Derby continue. Wall Stadium has sat dormant all year long with no weekly racing on the 30 degree high bank turns on 1/3 mile track. The crowd came in droves and packed the stands with standing room only, not only in the general admission area but also the pit grandstands. Everyone wanted a good seat to view the action, no one went home disappointed on the show that was put on by thoses wielding the 600 horsepower modifieds that has showcased the Turkey Debry for years. RAPTOR Sr. Champ Raptor/Animal are the crown jewels of the EEKR. Many of the competitors race in both classes. The action is always hot and heavy when theses karts take to the track. This past week was no exception! The draft was in full effect and the karts were hooked up going down the straights. With the action so close one kart could cause a whole pile up, as was the case with the past week's Sr. Champ Raptor class. Aggression is a must when racing so close, but drive it in too hard can cost the driver and the field plenty! This is one exciting race to watch! THE GRANDSTAND: JUNIOR SPORTSMAN
CHAMP II The first Sunday of November brought some exciting racing to the go-kart divisions at Riverhead Raceway. This week, The Grandstand features Jr. Sportsman Champ II. With an exciting last lap, karts drivers were going hard for the checkers. RAPTOR Oct 26, racing is still going strong at Riverhead Raceway and still there seems to be calls people aren't satisfied with till they see the video! That's why I am here to show the evidence of who finished where! James Hayden took down the win but second place through fifth had to be determined by what you see here!
THE GRANDSTAND: FANTASTIC FINISHES Steve LaFountaine from LaFilms bring us another incredible video. His last video featured greatest hits in the "X" for the figure 8 division. This edition he bring us a different look at the finish of the August 2nd Blunderbust finish. This race hold second half honors of "Race of the Year. The video was highlighted in Bench Racing last week. The footage shown was from between turns 3 and 4. This video shows us the view between turn 1 and 2. Enjoy this fantastic finish! 08' What started as a hot day turned into a hot night of racing action. July 5, 2008 Riverhead Raceway gave their yearly honor to 3 of the best drivers to grace it's track. Holding many victories and thousands of cheering fans, Charlie Jarzombek, Richie Evans and Tom Baldwin were held in remembrance this evening from the group that they helped bring to center stage in the Northeast, The Modifieds. The Music this week, might seem a bit hard for the older crowd. But I had to play something with aggression as this race features a lot of beating and banging, what better then Hardcore music. Demon Hunter has a cross over of hardcore, metal, progressive, melodic rock, maybe not your cup of tea, but might be another man's cup of tea! That is the wonderful world of music. Hunter] THE GRANDSTAND: Go Karts The Grandstand is back! This week features grass roots racing across America, Go-karts! Modified regular Justin Bonsignore races two classes for EKRA, which is headed by another modified driver stand out Dave Brigati. A lot of drivers gain their experience in the smaller karts, most of them started racing them while still in the single digits in their age! This race had an introduction by Justin, but the tape was mishandled and no longer is playable at this time! Sorry bro, but you still get to see yourself race, along with everyone who watches this race. It's an exciting race with money on the line, so drivers go all out at the end of the day to gain some cash!!! Is Legend] THE GRANDSTAND: Legend Cars Last year the Legend Cars
made an impression on the folks at Riverhead Raceway. With a healthy car count this division would be welcomed as another class to the weekly racing series. With eight races on the card for the season, five of them have been raced. After the race on 6/28/08, they might add two or so races to their season at Riverhead Raceway. "The Natural" Timmy Solomito battled to the end [Anberlin] THE GRANDSTAND: MODIFIEDS 6/7/08 The Riverhead Raceway Mod Squad took to the track in a 50 lap double points race. The tight corners and hot night made for a mixture that was tough to pass this evening. This video is shot from the backstretch and music is provided by The Almost. "Southern Weather" has seen great success for this Tampa, Florida band. Lead singer Aaron Gillespie also throws down behind the drum kit for Underoath. This is his latest side project that has taken him to the forefront in the music industry. Almost] THE GRANDSTAND: SUPER PRO TRUCKS Super Pro Trucks at Riverhead Raceway has been growing in truck counts and the racing on the track has been exciting to watch. This week's Grandstand video took place on 6/7/08 and features an unsigned band, known as, Too Late The Hero. This band's hometown is Berwick Rock City, Maine and will surely rock your speakers! Songs featured are off their album "Is this Thing On?", the first tune is called "Wyatt Earp's Ale Mug" and is followed with "Operation-Grow a Beard and be Somebody". Grandstand features a division that maybe the lowest cost in terms of equipment. The Blunderbust cars are mostly stock bodies and rugged style chassis that help keep the cost down. [Lovedrug] THE GRANDSTAND: FIGURE 8 What kind of man races in the
Figure 8 division? Men who stare down the "X" not knowing what another driver is thinking! Will he slow down? Will he stand on the gas pedal to go faster? Will he stop and let the car go through the "X" first? It takes nerves of steel sometimes to make it through without ending up in an accident.
