PIT BOX: LOCKS OF LOVE
Oct 6, 2009
PIT BOX
Ok, this is not a regular for Pitstop
Pitbull, but when Grand Enduro driver, Jimmy Denis, said he was
cutting his hair for cancer causes, we had to be there! I'm as far
from a race track in this weeks offerings on this site, in fact you
may not find many drivers in this place! Salon Nevaeh in East
Yaphank has family ties with Jimmy Denis as his Uncle Teddy cuts
hair and his sister Cassandra works the desk. Jimmy's hair will be
sent to "Locks of Love" and turned into a wig for those who are
suffering fro cancer. Lots of laughs are had and even yours truly
gets his cut too!

was a golf outing, which Pitstop Pitbull was on hand to film the
days actions! It is now known that Racers are better at driving a
race car then a driving a golf ball! Enjoy all the tomfoolery that
ensued during the days event.

BENCH RACING
"My
Three Sons", a TV show from the 1960's, featured three brothers, for
those not familiar with it, google it or wikipedia it! Who knew we
could actually feature another show today called "My Three Sons",
but instead of Mike, Robbie and Chip Douglas, we would have Jerry as
Mike,Shawn as Robbie and for a good laughs Timmy as the lovable
Chip. Like the show All three brothers work hard together to achieve
family success! I'm too young to have seen the original aired
episodes, but thanks to re-runs, I was brought up by the family
values of The Douglas family. Maybe someone down the road can say,
that The Solomito Family values influenced their lives! This week's
Bench Racing features eldest son Mike...errrr....Jerry Solomito,
Go-kart racer turned Charger regular at Riverhead Raceway.

BENCH RACING: Roger Turbush
BENCH RACING
Racing
sometimes sits inside the veins for so long, that when the time for
it to pop, you got to go out and get behind the wheel for the next
fixation. Racing and families go hand and hand, The Turbush family
has been doing it for 4 generations, Roger Turbush is one of them
that couldn't sit any longer. While his Pops and Brother was out
winning races, he was in stands or working in the pits! Roger's
vein's were screaming to get behind the wheel! His second season
behind the wheel in the Super Pro Truck, he's gained respect of his
fellow drivers and has earned a couple top 5 finishes, some of them
just short of victory! The day is coming when we'll see Roger
Turbush in victory lane and join the legacy The Turbush family has
marked on racing! This week, Roger Turbush sits in on Bench Racing
and brings the knowledge that comes through not only himself but his
family!

HAMMERING PROCESS: EEKR RACES
THE HAMMERING
PROCESS

EEKR, East End Kart Racing, is the
grass roots to a lot of drivers of Saturday night racing at
Riverhead Raceway. Many drivers in the Nascar ranks have their
racing foundation in go-kart racing. It's at this level of racing
young drivers learn the values of competitive sports. But, it's not
limited to just young drivers, as some classes support drivers from
16 and up! While, an adult class of "Over 35", let's drivers live
the dream of tearing it up on the track. Board members of EEKR put
together one of the best efforts I've seen for the drivers on a
Sunday afternoon. Dave and Cindy Brigati, along with, Joe Orlando
and Linda Solomito help bring the show together with a great crew to
support them.

THE PIT BOX: Top 5 Picks Updated
THE PIT BOX

Sitting in the hot seat can
sometimes place you under a spot light all season long. It takes a
bold man to make predictions and stick with them all season long.
Even bolder, is a man who picks the top 5, in his own division!
Riverhead Raceway is about to throw the green flag for the first
official laps of the season this coming week. Drivers from various
divisions might be under the microscope, but this is all in the game
of "entertainment". Keep checking back for more divisions through
out the week!

THE GRANDSTAND: April 18,2009 1st
Practice
THE GRANDSTAND

It's not Opening Day yet for the
Saturday Night/Sunday afternoon crew, but it sure felt like we were
in mid swing! The weather made an April Spring day sure feel like
the beginning of Summer. Most competitors were happy with car
counts, as previous years, the second practice of the pre-season
usually shows stronger numbers. This year had a lot of drivers
biting at the chomps to get on the track and shake down their
machines! Pitstop Pitbull was on hand to bring you the action with a
different view...

added, from races to special highlights. Sit back, turn up the
volume, not too loud, the sounds

THE GRANDSTAND: TURKEY DERBY XXXV
THE GRANDSTAND
The year end dream of The Turkey
Derby were kept alive one more season at Wall Stadium in Wall
Township, New Jersey. Jim Morton made this possible with his vision
to see the Derby continue. Wall Stadium has sat dormant all year
long with no weekly racing on the 30 degree high bank turns on 1/3
mile track. The crowd came in droves and packed the stands with
standing room only, not only in the general admission area but also
the pit grandstands. Everyone wanted a good seat to view the action,
no one went home disappointed on the show that was put on by thoses
wielding the 600 horsepower modifieds that has showcased the Turkey
Debry for years. Follow the link the witness the day actions!
